Communication and teamwork
Do ears have a gender?
female and male communication, with humour
Is communication only an exchange of information, or also a statement about closeness and relationship? If one sentence, spoken or sent by email, can be understood in four ways by four people, this session is for you.
We look at the cultural mechanisms that lead women and men into different communication traps, and learn a “square” tool that clarifies many everyday interactions at work and at home.
Participants
- understand how cultural, more than biological, differences shape what we send and receive in communication
- see how meta-messages lead to conflict and how we listen with “different ears”
- notice that at work we tend to understand others in terms of our own communication style
