Stress, resilience and recovery
Perseverance in action
Perseverance is one of the key competences of effective action, especially in long projects, change and situations where enthusiasm fades quickly. Without it we don’t keep habits, don’t finish tasks and give up too early.
The workshop focuses on the practical side of perseverance: making good decisions while pursuing a goal, not burning out along the way, and telling the moment worth persevering through from the moment when stopping is a mature decision. It draws on the psychology of motivation, self-regulation and goal work.
Participants
- set goals that are realistic and sustainable over time
- keep motivation up despite dips in energy and discouragement
- match their strategies to the stage of the goal
- use failures and difficulties as feedback
- know when to persevere and when to stop deliberately, without a sense of failure
